There are several ways to get from Spain to Essaouira, Morocco, including planes, ferries, and buses. Here are the different ways to get there:

Going by plane from Spain to Essaouira

With this choice, you can fly straight from a big city in Spain, like Madrid, Barcelona, or Malaga, to a big city in Morocco, usually Marrakech or Casablanca. When you get to Morocco, you can fly within the country or take a bus from Marrakech to Essaouira. Getting to Essaouira from Marrakech takes 2.5 to 3 hours on a Supertours or CTM bus. After getting to Casablanca, you can take a bus or train to Marrakech and then a bus to Essaouira.

Take the ferry from Spain to Tangier and then the train to Essaouira

As part of this trip, you take a ferry from Algeciras or Tarifa in southern Spain to Tangier in Morocco. The boat ride only takes a few hours most of the time. After getting to Tangier, you can take the train (8–10 hours) or the bus (10–12 hours). It takes about three hours to get from Marrakech to Essaouira by bus. This choice gives you a more scenic trip but takes longer than flying.

Use of both planes and buses

You can fly directly from a major city in Spain to either Marrakech or Agadir for this choice. The best way to get to Essaouira after landing is by bus. It takes about three hours to get from Marrakech to Essaouira by bus. If you fly into Agadir, the bus ride to Essaouira takes about three to four hours. This choice is a good mix of price and ease of use, especially if you’d rather fly than take the longer bus ride.
